A Book About Death – The Last Waltz, Islip Art Museum
Brookwood Hall, 50 Irish Lane, East Islip, NY 11730 United States.
Jina Wallwork is exhibiting in the A Book About Death exhibition. Islip art Museum is hosting the exhibition and it features artwork from artists all around the globe. It is the tenth anniversary of the original A book About Death exhibition and this new exhibition has replicated the original call. The first exhibition was a pivotal moment in mail art history and links to the work Ray Johnson who was the founder of the mail art movement.
Each artist has submitted 500 prints and the visitors to the exhibition can take one print from each artist in order to create an unbound copy of A Book About Death. Signed prints of the Death and Rebirth book cover have been included in this exhibition. It is a piece of one book existing as a page within the other.
The exhibition also includes the 2009 edition of A Book About Death which includes the work of a range of artists including Yoko Ono. It is taken from the Emily Harvey Foundation Gallery in soho. Other collections that include a copy of the original book about death are the MoMA New York and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, California.
